Blogging Cms

What is the best CMS for multi-user blogs and why?

Content management systems or CMS are becoming commonly used in the internet industry. A content management system is used primarily to make it easier to design and manage a website. Aside from making it easier to develop a website, a CMS can also be used to support multi-user blogs.

Multi-user blogs are becoming just as popular as CMS as more web administrators realize the numerous advantages of creating and managing their own multi-user blog. A multi-user blog is primarily a site that allows people to become authors and have their own section on the website. These authors can then contribute to the website by writing their opinions and holding discussions. This is also called blogging. Multi-user blogs are free. What’s even more enticing is that the content on the website can help improve the site’s ranking on search engines. Aside from better ranking, the blog owner can also make profit from advertisements placed on the website.

Blog owners can use a content management system to limit the things bloggers can do to the site. For one thing, CMS can help set a limit on what writers can edit on the site. This is possible by setting preferred restrictions as well as author permission in the CMS. There are different content management systems available like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. When it comes to multi-user blogging, most people would agree that WordPress is the best open source CMS.

WordPress is simple to use and very user friendly. It was created primarily as a blog so there are several blogging options and services. There are also multiple plug-ins available and different themes to choose from. WordPress is capable of supporting an unlimited number of users, making it suitable for multi-user blogging. At present, WordPress is being used by approximately 202 million sites.

Another CMS software ideal for multi-user blogging is a movable type multi-user. It costs more than a thousand dollars though and there is a limit of 50 users. Unlike WordPress which can easily be configured, the movable type multi-user can be quite complicated to install. It publishes static HTML web pages as opposed to CMS pages published by WordPress.
