Network Marketing Websites vs Blogs
When you’re marketing your MLM or home business online one of the first things you’ll want to set up is a website or blog – but which option is best? Here are some pros and cons of websites and blogs.
Websites
Pros
-You can set up a basic website for free (or very cheaply) and complete it in a couple hours
-You don’t need to update content as much as a blog
-You can organise content according to your own system ie. by topic, date or author
-It’s easy to remove, change and organise articles
-You can add videos, photos and audio files
-You can sell goods on your website by adding a shopping cart
Cons
-Once you start adding a lot of content, webistes can get more expensive than blogs as you need to upgrade your hosting
-Too much content (articles, videos etc.) can make a website unweildy and difficult to navigate
-Websites generally don’t change as much as a blog meaning they can take longer to get good search engine ratings
Blogs
Pros
-Blogs are also free to set up and quick to get started but won’t start to “fill up” until you’ve posted a couple months’ worth of entries
-You don’t need to have any html knowledge to set up or maintain a blog and they are generally simpler to maintain and update than a website
-You can update the blog on a regular basis – even daily
-Extensive content means you can include more keywords for SEO
-Blogs can be listed on blog directories and search engines
-You can write several blog entries and set the time and date for posting so fresh information is going out even when you’re not online
Cons
-Writing blog entries can get tedious
-Content is organised by post date and can be difficult to access
-There’s some debate that, as blogs are more like journalism than a sales website, bloggers need to have disclaimers if they have any conflicts of interest with their blog; this can get unnecessarily complicated.
-You annot put a shopping cart for selling goods on your blog so you’ll need to set up a sales website which is linked to your blog
Try combining your website with a blog. You could either have a blog on your website or use an RSS feed of your blog on your website. You could also post links on your website to articles on your blog or visa versa. A blog on your website will help with SEO as the content is always being updated. It can be useful for a business where you need to post regular updates for your customers as they can check for updates by date.
